When is the pattern less typical?

Smooth isolated patches, abrupt shedding, broken hairs, scalp redness or scale, pain, scarring, or eyebrow and body-hair changes are reasons to start with a clinician. They can point to a different mechanism—and therefore a different next step.

Where does a laser cap fit?

Low-level laser therapy has been studied in men with androgenetic alopecia. A double-blind randomised trial using a sham device reported a higher hair count after 16 weeks of every-other-day use, a separate sham-device-controlled multicentre trial reported at 26 weeks, and later meta-analyses combined evidence across devices. Does a laser cap reduce DHT?

Does more advanced loss change the decision?
